One of the highest priorities set by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is Family reunification. Citizens and permanent residents of Canada can sponsor their close relatives abroad to come to Canada under this category. The eligible family members are:
- Spouses, common-law or conjugal partners 18 years of age or older;
- Parents & grandparents;
- Dependent children, including adopted children;
- Children under the age of 18 whom you intend to adopt;
- Children under guardianship;
- Brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, or grandchildren who are orphans, under the age of 18 & not married or in common-law relationship; or
- A relative of any age, under specific conditions.
This application includes 2 separate application processes:
- Sponsorship application process
- Permanent residence application process
Permits will only be issued to those who have been accepted for studies at Designated Learning Institutions. In addition, students will be required to actively pursue their studies towards completing their program.
In most cases, a foreign national must apply for work permit at a Canadian Embassy, Consulate or High Commission abroad. However, certain applicants from visa-exempt countries may apply at the Port of Entry.
Foreign Nationals (FN) who wish to enter Canada temporarily either for pleasure or business can apply for a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) prior to entering Canada.
There are three (3) types of TRV
- Single Entry Visa
- Multiple Entry Visa
- Transit Visa
Group of Five Refugee Sponsorship
We will work with the group representative to create a sound settlement plan, ensure all aspects meet IRCC stringent standards and submit your application online for faster processing. Note that sponsorship is only possible for applicants whose refugee status have been granted by the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) or a foreign state.
Permanent Residence Card Applications
In order to seek refugee protection, claimant must first be outside of their home country (or country of their habitual residence) and must be unable or, due to a well founded fear unwilling to avail themselves of the protection of that country.
Claim can be made inside Canada at the Port of Entry or outside Canada under the Convention refugee abroad class.
Federal Skilled Worker Program
Applicant is assessed in this category based on:
- Education;
- Age;
- Language;
- Work experience;
- Arranged Employment in Canada
- Adaptability
Humanitarian & Compassionate Consideration
Certain foreign nationals who would otherwise not qualify in any class may make submissions on any facts affecting their personal circumstances that they believe are relevant to their request for H&C consideration. Permanent residence status or a permanent resident visa can be granted for applications made from inside or outside Canada.
Adult applicants must be physically present in Canada for 3 out of the 5 years immediately prior to the application, without a minimum number of days per year. Days living in Canada before obtaining permanent residence may count as half days up to one year. They must have their personal income tax filed for 3 out of 5 years. Applicants between the ages of 18 and 54 must meet basic knowledge of Canada and language requirements. Children under 18 years of age are not required to meet the residency requirement.
